Triple MVP Nikola Jokic suffers a 'devastating' knee injury.
Triple NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "devastating" knee injury as the Denver Nuggets were defeated 147-123 to the Miami Heat.
Jokic sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter in an accidental coming together with team-mate Spencer Jones.
Jones came down on the footwear of the big man, who promptly collapsed to the floor grabbing his knee.
The veteran player, who tops the NBA season in boards and assists, recorded 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before suffering the injury.
Jokic will have an MRI on the following day to evaluate the seriousness of the injury.
"Instantly, he understood there was a problem," commented Nuggets coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Anyone who is injured, that's gut-wrenching, especially a player as important as him. More information will come tomorrow."
"We will continue as a team. Of course, right now, I am more concerned just about Jokic as a person and the letdown of facing an event of that nature."
