Supporters Call for Arrest of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the pop star are demanding that a individual who breached a barrier and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared footage shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed includes recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Safety
Numerous fans criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another response on Instagram.
Several supporters also questioned guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande appeared surprised when she was approached by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional premiere in a Singapore venue, including several who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a dual interpretation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End show Wicked, which centers on the surprising bond between two very different characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received a dozen Oscar nominations, winning a pair for outstanding attire and production design.
