Outrage as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in the City of Johannesburg.

A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on a Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the 40-year-old presenter was confronted by three suspects, one of whom shot at him before fleeing on foot.

The purpose behind the incident is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, police said.

The Fatal Incident

Police revealed that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the city center landmark.

He had devoted time at the property overseeing the implementation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, it was reported.

"It is alleged the man was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement stated.

Security camera video showed a man with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before making his escape.

The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.

Police added that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the assault.

Key evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the location.

Call for Public Assistance

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.

"We know they covered significant ground after the attack, and police have been following their trail to find their whereabouts," stated a police chief.

His family member, Nicole Stock, said the family was struggling to understand the tragedy.

"I am in shock. I don't have words," she said.
"It is clear he was a voice for many people. He was a fearless commentator about issues not many people were ready to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."

She urged the citizens to refrain from sharing explicit content from the scene, saying this was an deeply traumatic time, especially for Stock's young family.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that was broadcast on a South African digital satellite entertainment channel.

A broadcasting director noted that "Stock was far beyond a face of a reality series. He was a gifted communicator, a true devotee of sound and a warm soul who brought excitement and dynamism to every appearance. His dedication to creativity left an lasting impression."

In a statement, the network he worked for declared Stock was known for his magnetism, approachability and quick humor, adding that his memory "will live on".
