After a decisive victory at the Lusail Grand Prix, the Red Bull driver has significantly closed the gap in the driver's standings. Now sitting just 12 points behind leader McLaren's Lando Norris and ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, the stage is set for a thrilling three-way title decider at the famous Yas Marina Circuit.

Verstappen's Qatar win was far from predictable. While he delivered a masterful drive for Red Bull, the race outcome was heavily influenced by a costly strategic call from the McLaren team. "I'm looking forward to it, I'm eager to go there and give it my best shot," Verstappen commented. "I go in there with just good vibes. I will give everything I can but at the same time, should I fall short, I still know that I had an amazing season."

This philosophy as he puts it takes a lot of the weight of expectation. The aim for the last race is simple: to extract everything possible from himself and the car.

An Improbable Turnaround Driven by Development and Cohesion.

The incredible part of Verstappen's championship charge particularly notable is the distance he has come back. After the Zandvoort round in late August, he was a massive over a century of points behind the championship leader his rival and had essentially conceded his championship hopes.

The reversal began with significant car developments introduced by his team at the Monza. Changes to the vehicle's underbody and front wing solved persistent performance deficits, allowing the driver to regain confidence with the car once more.

Since that point, his performance has been completely spectacular, achieving five victories and multiple podiums. He was eager to highlight the collective effort behind this comeback.

"We've won races where maybe we shouldn't have, through the right call as a group," Verstappen added. "The way I work with my team on the pit wall and the entire crew... we are deeply connected."

The Scenario for a Memorable Decider.

As the teams arrive in Abu Dhabi, the championship picture is perfectly defined.

• The championship leader will claim his debut world title if he outpaces both his two rivals or secures a place on the rostrum.
• The challenger needs victory and requires that his rival places fourth or lower.
• The third contender, who is by sixteen points, needs a victory and see his teammate finish sixth or worse.
