Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
