Arne Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's worst run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a phase of this nature with outcomes so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
